Gujarat govt inks MoU with Jabil for ₹1,000 crore electronics manufacturing unit at Dholera

Gandhinagar: The Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, signed a significant MoU today with Jabil, an electronics manufacturing company. Under this agreement, Jabil, a world leader in engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions, intends to invest ₹1,000 crore in establishing an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) unit at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR).

This new unit will foster collaboration between Jabil and the Gujarat government, focusing on sectors such as networking, capital goods, and automotive. Signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the MoU commits Jabil to expanding its operations by 2027, creating approximately 5,000 employment opportunities.

This venture is expected to enhance research and development capacity and significantly expand skill development initiatives. B.N. Shukla (Operations Director, Jabil) and Manish Gurwani (Mission Director, Gujarat State Electronics Mission) signed the MoU on behalf of Jabil and GSEM.

The MoU was exchanged by Mona Khandhar, Principal Secretary of the Science and Technology Department, and Frederick McCoy, Executive Vice President of Jabil, with GSEM serving as the nodal implementing agency for electronics investments in the state.

“This MoU will strengthen the state’s tech ecosystem by creating high-skilled job opportunities and producing world-class products. Dholera SIR has been developed with industry-ready, plug-and-play infrastructure and an efficient logistical framework to support high-tech manufacturing, aligning with the Prime Minister’s Make in India initiative.”
