Deepak Chem Tech Ltd to invest Rs 5,000 crore in polycarbonate project; to set up plant in Dahej, Gujarat

Vadodara : Deepak Chem Tech Limited (DCTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, has announced plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore in a polycarbonate project. The company has received approval to establish a new manufacturing facility for polycarbonate resins at a greenfield site in Dahej, Gujarat. The plant, which will produce 165,000 metric tonnes of polycarbonate, is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of FY 2028. As part of the project, Deepak Chem Tech Ltd has entered into an agreement with Trinseo to acquire its polycarbonate assets in Stade, Germany, along with a technology license. This partnership also grants access to Trinseo’s globally recognized CALIBRE™ resins and trademark.
Polycarbonate is a versatile polymer with widespread applications in sectors such as automotive (including electric mobility), electronics, construction, medical devices, and emerging industries like aerospace, aviation, and drones.

Trinseo, a leading manufacturer of engineering polymers and compounds, reported net sales of approximately $3.7 billion in 2023. Its engineering compound portfolio serves global, marquee brands across various industries.
