Surat trader to give sarees to women voting early in Maharashtra polls

Surat: With polling set for November 20th to elect the 288 members of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, a cloth merchant in Surat has launched a voting awareness campaign. As part of the campaign, the trader has announced that the first 500 women who cast their vote early in the morning on polling day will receive a saree. To spread this message to the women of Maharashtra, the businessman has contacted traders in Maharashtra’s Mandi and requested them to share his message, along with his name and number, in social media groups for their customers.

Rajeev Omar, a cloth merchant with a shop in Raghukul Market, stated that women play an important role in elections. However, most women vote only after completing their household chores. Therefore, the saree giveaway is aimed at encouraging women to vote early in the morning. He further explained that women who vote by 8:00 AM will need to send a photo of their finger with the voting mark, along with their voting card or Aadhaar card, to the company’s WhatsApp number. The first 500 women to do so will receive a saree worth Rs. 500, sent via courier. To ensure the message reaches women, Rajeev has appealed to traders in Maharashtra to convey this message to their customers. DeshGujarat
