GU professor sacked for Rs 1.5 crore embezzlement

Ahmedabad: A professor from Gujarat University’s animation department has been dismissed after being found guilty of financial misconduct. The university administration has also initiated proceedings to recover the misappropriated funds from Professor Kawaljeet Lakhtariya and plans to issue a show-cause notice for further action.
The executive council of Gujarat University met on Wednesday to review the findings of a committee investigating financial irregularities in the animation department. The investigation focused on Prof. Lakhtariya, the department coordinator, who is accused of embezzling ₹1.5 crore. The inquiry, led by a retired judge, has submitted its findings to the university.
It is learnt that the university will make a formal announcement about these decisions soon. Furthermore, there has been discussion on campus, suggesting that funds may have been transferred to the professor’s spouse’s account. DeshGujarat
