Ahmedabad: The 7th edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) will commence simultaneously on December 11, 2024, at 51 centers nationwide. In Gujarat, forty-eight teams comprising 339 participants (230 boys and 109 girls) from 15 states will tackle 10 problem statements at the SIH 2024 Grand Finale (Software Edition) in Ahmedabad.
The event, hosted at Sivanand Ashram, will take place on December 11 and 12, supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education. Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and ISRO’s Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, are jointly organizing the two-day event, which features 19 teams from GTU-affiliated colleges, including five representing GTU.
The seventh edition of the hackathon will address domains such as lunar exploration, satellite communication, geospatial mapping, and artificial intelligence. Nilesh M. Desai, Director of SAC Ahmedabad, highlighted that students will have the opportunity to develop their setups with ISRO’s guidance, marking a significant shift in innovation.
Desai also stated that SIH, launched in 2017 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a startup hub, has achieved remarkable milestones, including over 8.9 lakh student participants and the creation of more than 100 startups. Serving as a platform for young innovators, SIH empowers students to solve real-world challenges while advancing India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. DeshGujarat
