December 09, 2024
Gandhinagar: Five empanelled hospitals in Gujarat have been suspended from the list of facilities authorized to provide healthcare services under the PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat Yojana) scheme. Among these, two are from Patan, and one each is from Ahmedabad, Dahod, and Aravalli. Additionally, two doctors have been suspended from the list of doctors authorized to provide services under the PMJAY scheme.
The suspensions followed inspections conducted by the State Anti-Fraud Unit (SAFU), along with expert medical teams, at hospitals where irregularities in the PMJAY scheme were discovered.
In Patan, Hir Children’s Hospital and Nishka Children’s Hospital & Neonatal Care were found to have manipulated reports and engaged in fraudulent activities. Hir Children’s Hospital altered 91 lab reports and selected higher-cost packages without justification, leading to the suspension of the hospital and Dr. Hiren Patel under the PMJAY scheme. Additionally, Health Spring 24 Pathology Laboratory was also suspended, and the hospital was fined ₹50,27,700, including recovery and penalties.
Similarly, Nishka Children’s Hospital tampered with 60 reports, and its tied-up laboratory failed to provide patients’ reports when requested. The hospital and Dr. Divyesh Shah were suspended, and Shiv Diagnostic Laboratory was also penalized. A total fine and recovery amounting to ₹15,16,350 were imposed.
Dahod’s Sonal Hospital was suspended due to non-compliance with manpower, infrastructure, and infection control guidelines. Ahmedabad’s Sentara Multispeciality Hospital faced suspension for lacking Building Use (BU) permission for certain floors, non-compliance with staff and equipment requirements, and storing expired medicines. The suspension will remain until all deficiencies are rectified.
Similarly, Aravalli’s Shri Jalaram Children’s Hospital was found to be operating with an expired fire safety certificate and inadequate neonatal ICU facilities. The hospital remains suspended until it obtains the necessary certification and addresses the issues. DeshGujarat
