Surat: CCTV footage from Aman Society in the Udhna area of the city has gone viral on the internet, showing a person molesting two girls within a distance of just five feet.

According to a written application to Police by Taufiq Abdul Sattar, the President of Aman Co-operative Housing Society, the incident occurred on Sunday around 8:30 PM. An unknown person entered the internal road of the society between plots 161 and 170 of Aman Co-op. Housing Society, Division 1, Udhna, Surat, and molested the girls. It appears the person attempted to deceive and abduct the girls.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the accused trying to grab a young girl on a moped, but she escapes. He then notices two girls approaching from the opposite direction and grabs one of them from behind. The girl struggles and manages to break free, running away with her sister. One of the girls in the video is seen wearing a hijab. The place where the incident occurred is a Muslim-dominated area.

DCP Bhagirath Gadhvi stated, “We have received CCTV footage of a man molesting young girls. The police have immediately initiated action. Five separate teams have been formed to identify the accused. Based on the CCTV footage and other details, we are working to arrest the accused. This incident occurred on December 8, 2024. The society president did not report it immediately, but a written complaint has now been filed. The police are committed to ensuring the safety of women and children and will take swift action to apprehend the culprit.” DeshGujarat
