Kutch: Twelve individuals were arrested last week for carrying out a fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at a jewellery shop in Gandhidham. It has now emerged that one of the main accused involved in the fake raid, which resulted in the theft of ₹22.25 lakh worth of cash and jewellery, is a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The incident occurred on December 2 at Radhika Jewellers in Gandhidham, where the group, posing as ED officials, staged a fake raid. During the operation, they looted valuables. The fake raid team also created counterfeit identification documents, including an ID card for an ED officer named Ankit Tiwari. On the day of the raid, the group, armed with fake IDs, arrived at Radhika Jewellers and stole ₹25.25 lakh worth of cash and jewellery. While police have arrested 12 individuals, one suspect, Vipin Sharma, remains at large. Authorities have recovered gold jewellery worth ₹22.27 lakh and seized three cars from the group.
Today, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi tweeted revealing that one of the main accused, Abdulsattar Manjothi, is the Official General Secretary of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP.
In the tweet, sharing a video of the arrested accused and a picture of the accused with Arvind Kejriwal, MoS Home stated, “Another act of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has come to light! A party leader in Gujarat formed a fake ED team, posed as its captain, and looted people! The commander of the fake ED team caught in Kutch turns out to be a leader of Gujarat’s Aam Aadmi Party! These are the real proofs of the misdeeds of Kejriwal’s followers!”
