Girnar ropeway service temporarily suspended due to strong winds
December 13, 2024
Junagadh: The ropeway service at Girnar Hills in Junagadh has been temporarily suspended due to strong winds that have been affecting the area for the past four days. The suspension, aimed at ensuring passenger safety, comes as the wind speed in the region has increased, particularly in the Girnar jungle.
The ropeway services are operated by Usha Breco Company. The resident manager of the ropeway stated that the strong winds have made it unsafe for the service to continue. The ropeway serves thousands of passengers daily, but due to the adverse weather conditions, the service has been put on hold. Passengers who had made advance bookings have been notified of the suspension.
The suspension is a precautionary measure, as the wind speed on Girnar Mountain has been measured at up to 50-54 km/h, making it dangerous for the ropeway service to operate. The service will resume once the weather conditions stabilize. The ropeway was first closed on Monday and Tuesday, resumed on Wednesday, but had to be closed again today due to adverse weather.
