Ahmedabad Crime Branch makes another arrest in Khyati Hospital case

Ahmedabad: Rajshree Kothari, one of the directors of the controversial Khyati Multispeciality Hospital, who had been absconding for the past month, has been arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch from Rajasthan. This marks the eighth arrest in the case related to the deaths of two patients at the hospital. The Crime Branch had earlier apprehended seven other accused, while Kartik Patel, chairman of the hospital, remains at large and is reportedly abroad.

Kothari’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Ahmedabad Rural Court on December 5. She is under investigation for her alleged role in the scam, which involved fraudulent medical procedures under the PMJAY scheme.

The case revolves around Khyati Multispeciality Hospital on SG Highway in Ahmedabad, where, on November 11, angiographies were performed on 19 people from Borisana village, and angioplasties were conducted on 7 patients. Two of these patients later died, sparking protests against the hospital. It was later revealed that hospital management and doctors carried out unnecessary procedures to claim benefits under the PMJAY scheme. DeshGujarat
