ABVP slams NSUI after its cadre assaults policeman at HNGU in Patan

Patan: The ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) today condemned the assault on a policeman by members of NSUI at Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and demanded judicial action from the administration.

The student organisation, in an official statement, said that given the long-standing history of NSUI, their main agenda has been violence, hooliganism, and the commercialisation of education in institutions. ABVP also alleged that Patan MLA Kirit Patel misused his position to instill fear among the vice chancellor, registrar, and other officials of HNGU for personal gain, using hooliganism to suppress the administration.

The ABVP demands that the administration restore peace and a proper academic atmosphere at the university.

Samarth Bhatt, State Secretary of ABVP, said, “The way miscreants from NSUI, along with local MLA Kirit Patel, entered HNGU and disrupted the university’s peaceful atmosphere is highly reprehensible. MLA Kirit Patel’s actions, including abusing the registrar and pushing him away with the police while attempting to take the university hostage with NSUI’s goon elements, have proven to be futile. The ABVP demands a police complaint against all those involved in this incident. Strict action is necessary to teach these miscreants a lesson.”

The scuffle took place today during an NSUI protest regarding basketball players staying at the university hostel who had allegedly held a drinking session in one of the rooms. During the session, when the proctor intervened, the players attempted to intimidate him and force him out of the room. In an attempt to stop him, one of the players tried to run over the proctor with a Mercedes Benz car. However, another staff member closed the gate, preventing the car from advancing. The three players from Anand were apprehended and handed over to the police, who arrived at the scene and took them to the police station. DeshGujarat
