Unjha APMC Elections: 10 candidates from Dinesh Patel’s group win

Mehsana: The elections for the largest marketing yard in Asia, Unjha APMC, saw intense competition, with 36 candidates vying for 14 seats. The vote counting was conducted today, with 10 candidates backed by former Chairman Dinesh Patel emerging victorious in the Trader category. Out of these 10 winning candidates, only 5 were supported by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Meanwhile, 5 candidates who had the BJP mandate lost, including those backed by MLA Kirit Patel. Additionally, Suprit Patel, the grandson of former MLA Narayan Patel, lost despite the BJP mandate. H.K. Patel, a close associate of MLA Kirit Patel, also faced defeat.
The counting of votes for the Farmer’s Division was conducted in 10 rounds. Dinesh Patel’s panel led from the very beginning and maintained its lead throughout. In the final round, Patel’s panel secured victory, with five candidates winning under the BJP mandate and five independent candidates also emerging victorious.
In the Trader section, the vote counting has completed nine rounds, with three independent candidates and one BJP-backed candidate leading the race. Despite BJP’s efforts, independent candidates continue to maintain a strong position in the Trader section, while BJP-backed candidates are trailing behind.
It is noteworthy that in the Unjha APMC elections held on Monday, 36 candidates contested for 14 seats. Of these, 20 candidates vied for 10 seats in the Farmer’s Division, while 16 candidates competed for 4 seats in the Trader’s Division. Voter turnout was recorded at 98% in the Farmer’s category and 97% in the Trader’s category. DeshGujarat
