Gas pipeline rupture triggers flash fire in Surat; shops gutted, four suffer burns

Surat: A rupture in an underground gas pipeline during the installation of underground cables triggered a flash fire in the Godadara area of the city today. As a result of the fire, four people suffered burn injuries, and five shops were completely gutted. Upon receiving the report, the fire department rushed to the site and managed to bring the fire under control.
The incident took place on Godadara Cinema Road, where a gas pipeline ruptured during underground cable work, causing a gas leak and a flash fire. The blaze quickly spread to nearby shops, affecting four to five establishments, including two mobile shops. Residents living above the shops panicked and evacuated immediately, and four people suffered burns in the process.
Fire Officer Sunil Chaudhary stated that the fire originated from the gas leak. Among the injured were four members of a family, including two children and their parents. While the parents sustained minor injuries, the children suffered more severe burns. All injured individuals were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.

Local shopkeepers and residents staged a protest, demanding action against those responsible for the incident. They also called for immediate compensation for the financial losses, which amounted to lakhs of rupees. DeshGujarat
