Main accused in BZ Ponzi scheme Bhupendrasinh Zala arrested

Ahmedabad: The CID crime branch of Gujarat Police has arrested Bhupendrasinh Zala, the main suspect in the ₹6,000 crore scam allegedly masterminded by the BZ Group. Zala had been on the run for the past month. He has been taken to the Visnagar police station by the CID team and will later be transferred to Gandhinagar.

Five FIRs have been filed against Zala, who had been evading capture since the CID (Crime) team raided his offices. Zala had established several companies, including BZ Financial Services, BZ International Broking Private Ltd, BZ Profit Plus, BZ Multi Trade, BZ Group of Management, BZ Group of Developers, BZ Capital Solutions, and BZ Heavy Electronics, across various cities in Gujarat. These companies promised high returns and offered incentives like free TVs, mobile phones, national and international tours, along with 7% higher interest on fixed deposits.

According to the CID, the company lured investors with interest rates higher than those offered by regular banks. For an investment of ₹5 lakh, investors were promised a 32-inch TV or a mobile phone. For ₹10 lakh, the company offered a trip to Goa and provided written commitments of 7% interest, along with verbal promises of 18% interest. DeshGujarat
