BJP suspends members in Amreli forged letter case

Amreli: The BJP has begun the suspension process for its members involved in an alleged forged letter case targeting Amreli MLA and deputy chief whip Kaushik Vekariya.

The case involves four accused, including two BJP members and a Patidar woman. Amreli taluka panchayat president Kishor Kanpariya confirmed the suspension of Manish Vaghasiya, a district committee member, and Ashok Mangrolia, a Jashwantgarh sarpanch. Kanpariya alleged that Vaghasiya misused his official letterhead to create a forged letter addressed to BJP’s Gujarat in-charge Ratnakar, with a copy to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The letterhead was initially taken months ago for development work, Kanpariya claimed, leading him to file a complaint with Amreli police.

The forgery case is registered under multiple sections, and while the woman accused is out on bail, the remaining accused are in judicial custody. Police have also recovered blank letterheads belonging to eight local officials from the accused.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and former Amreli MLA Paresh Dhanani has extended his “Nari Swabhiman Andolan” protest for another day, demanding justice for the woman accused in the case, who was allegedly paraded by the police. However, police clarified that the woman was taken out for a crime scene reconstruction. CCTV footage of the woman posting the letter has also surfaced.

Dhanani, protesting the alleged parading of the woman during the crime scene reconstruction, plans to escalate his protest to Surat. Deshgujarat
