Surat-Kolkata Flights Suspended for Five Days due to Kumbh Mela 2025
January 12, 2025
Surat: Due to a surge in air travel demand for the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, airlines have temporarily suspended Tier-2 city flights, including Surat-Kolkata flights, for 5-7 days. The Indigo flight operating between Surat and Kolkata from January 11 to 15 has been canceled for five days.
The increased demand for air travel to Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela has prompted airlines to divert services from Tier-2 cities to accommodate major routes. Flight 6E 967/968 has been taken off the schedule temporarily to cater to Kumbh Mela-related demand.
Flights to destinations like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and Indore have seen higher traffic due to the Kumbh Mela, leading to operational adjustments by airlines.
Passengers scheduled to fly between Surat and Kolkata have been informed about alternative travel arrangements. Airlines are offering full refunds or allowing passengers to reschedule their tickets for later dates without additional charges.
The airlines have stated that the disruption is temporary and are taking steps to ensure minimal inconvenience to travelers. DeshGujarat
