Five Humans, 547 birds Injured in Surat on the Eve of Uttarayan due to Sharp Kite Strings

Surat: Five people were injured in different parts of the city on the eve of Uttarayan (Kite Flying Festival) due to sharp kite strings.
In the first incident, 33-year-old Pintu Asvin Dhagdhariya, who was riding a moped with his mother, was injured when a kite string struck him in the neck. He was rushed to SMIMER Hospital for treatment.
In the second incident, 15-year-old Hetal Somabhai Devipujak was walking near Hirabag Circle when a kite string slashed her neck. She was immediately taken to SMIMER Hospital by 108 ambulance.
In the third incident, 20-year-old Shivam Ramsankar Yadav was riding a bike in Amroli when a kite string caught him in the neck. He sustained injuries and was taken to SMIMER Hospital for treatment.
In the fourth incident, 13-year-old Tosif Sakil Pathan was flying a kite on a terrace in Gaytrinagar, Kapodra when he fell down and sustained injuries. He was also taken to SMIMER Hospital for treatment.
In the fifth incident, 19-year-old Vikesh Mukeshbhai, while flying a kite near Bhagal Tower Road, was hit by a stone tied to the kite string. He sustained head injuries and was taken to SMIMER Hospital for treatment.
These incidents highlight the dangers associated with kite flying and the need for caution. Police have issued advisories urging people to be vigilant and take precautions to avoid injuries caused by kite strings. All flyovers in the city of Surat are shut for traffic for two-wheelers in order to prevent injuries and deaths due to sharp kite string during the two-days long kite flying festival on January 14 and 15.
Meanwhile as many as 547 birds were injured due to sharp kite strings in a day before Uttarayan. Of them 19 birds were killed.
