Deputy Mamlatdar held in prohibition case after drunk driving incident in Vadodara

Vadodara: An executive magistrate and deputy mamlatdar from Padra taluka, Naresh Vankar, was arrested and booked on Wednesday in connection with a prohibition case.

The incident occurred late Tuesday night when the Vadodara City Control Room received a call about a car stuck in a pit, with the driver reportedly “unconscious.” Upon arriving at the scene, Akota Police found the driver alone in the car and appearing intoxicated.

“The driver identified himself as Naresh Vankar, Deputy Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate of Padra. He was in an inebriated state,” said Akota Police Inspector YG Makwana. A breathalyzer test confirmed alcohol consumption, leading to his arrest under the prohibition law. Vankar was later granted bail as per procedure. An empty liquor bottle was also confiscated from his car.

Vankar had driven his car into a ditch on the side of Jetalpur Road and was unable to steer it out. However, no one was injured in the incident. DeshGujarat
