Western Railway to run special train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad for Coldplay concert

Ahmedabad: Western Railway will operate two special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26 to cater to the increased demand for the highly anticipated Coldplay concerts at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.

Though the trains are designated as “winter specials,” they are aimed at clearing the extra rush of passengers traveling for the concerts, as per the directive from the Railway Board, in response to the high airfares and additional rush. This was confirmed by an official on Thursday.

The first special train will depart from Bandra Terminus at 6:15 am and arrive in Ahmedabad at 2:00 pm on January 25, while the second train will depart at the same time on January 26, reaching Ahmedabad by 1:00 pm. Return journeys are scheduled for 1:40 am on January 26 and 12:50 am on January 27, with arrival in Bandra at approximately 8:40 am and 8:30 am, respectively. En route, the trains will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Udhna, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, and Geratpur.

Officials also anticipate that even these additional trains may not fully meet the demand, given Coldplay’s massive fan base and the high demand observed during past events like the Cricket World Cup. DeshGujarat
