State Election Commission of Gujarat Declares Schedule of Local Elections / bypolls

Gandhinagar: Gujarat will witness the next set of elections on 16th February 2025, with vote counting scheduled for 18th February 2025. These elections will elect local self-governance bodies. The State Election Commission announced the schedule for these polls today.
State Election Commissioner Dr. S. Murli Krishnan stated during a press conference, “The elections are being announced today. The notification will be issued on 27th January, with the last day for filing nomination papers being 1st February. Withdrawals will be accepted until 4th February, and voting will take place on 16th February from 7 AM to 6 PM. If needed, re-polling will occur on 17th February, and vote counting will be on 18th February. The election process will conclude by 21st February 2025.”
The State Election Commission outlined the program for general elections of Junagadh Municipal Corporation, 66 municipalities, and Kathlal, Kapadvanj, and Gandhinagar taluka panchayats. Mid-term elections for Botad and Wankaner municipalities and by-elections for 3 municipal corporation seats, 21 municipality seats, 9 district panchayat seats, and 91 taluka panchayat seats have also been announced.
The regular election for Kheda district panchayat has not been declared due to pending technicalities after the formation of Nadiad Municipal Corporation.
The municipalities (Nagarpalikas) for which regular/mid-term elections will be held are Bavla, Sanand, Dhandhuka, Mansa, Mahemdavad, Dakor, Chaklasi, Mahudha, Kheda, Vallabh Vidhyanagar, Boriyavi, Karamsad, Anklav, Od, Lunadava, Santrampur, Balashinor, Khedbrahma, Prantij, Talod, Harij, Chanasma, Radhanpur, Kheralu, Vijapur, Vadnagar, Tharad, Karjan, Chhota Udepur, Zalod, Devgadh Bariya, Kalol Halol, Bilimora, Valsad, Pardi, Dharampur, Songadh, Jamjodhpur, Dhrol, Kalavad, Salaya, Dwarka, Bhanvad, Bantwa, Manavadar, Mangrol, Visavdar, Vanthali, Chorwad, Kodinar, Rapar, Bhachau, Lathi, Jafrabad, Rajula, Chalala, Shihor, Gariyadhar, Talaja, Gadhada, Botad (mid-term), Jasdan, Jetpur-Navagadh, Bhayavadar, Upleta, Halvad, Wankaner (mid-term), Thangadh, Kutiyana, and Ranavav.
The vacant municipal corporation seats for which by-polls will take place are ward number 07 in Ahmedabad, 03 in Bhavnagar, and 18 in Surat. DeshGujarat
