Court Orders Six-Month Jail Term for Bangladeshi Beggar in Surat

Surat: A 62-year-old Bangladeshi man, who had been illegally residing in Surat and begging for the past 10 years, was sentenced to six months of rigorous imprisonment by a local court. The court also ordered the police to deport him to Bangladesh after he serves his sentence.
As per the details of the case, the Special Operations Group of Surat Police had arrested 62-year-old Mohammad Zinnat Mohammad Ahmeduddin Sheikh, who had been residing in Bhestan. During his interrogation, the police found a Bangladeshi national ID card in his possession. Additionally, they found an Aadhaar card, which served as proof of Indian identity.
During questioning, Mohammad revealed that he had illegally crossed the border, first arriving in Kolkata and then moving to Surat, where he had been begging for a living in Bhestan.
Later, during the trial in Surat court, the government prosecutor presented arguments and examined 11 witnesses, providing key evidence that proved the charges against the accused. After considering both sides, the court sentenced Mohammad Sheikh to six months in prison. DeshGujarat
