Banaskantha: Some talukas, such as Dhanera, Deodar, and Kankrej, are opposing being part of the newly formed Vav-Tharad district following the division of Banaskantha. Amidst this, the Banaskantha District Collector has announced that citizens will be able to submit their written representations to the administration regarding the division by 2nd February.
The Gujarat government had announced the formation of the 34th district, Vav-Tharad, which is being carved out from the existing large district of Banaskantha in North Gujarat. Following this, some talukas have been protesting the decision. To address these issues, Banaskantha District Collector Mihir Patel said, “All citizens of the district can submit written representations, complaints, or suggestions regarding the announced division of the district to the Prant Offices by 6:10 pm on the 2nd of February.”
Even though the 2nd of February is a Sunday, all Prant offices in Banaskantha will remain open to accept these written representations, the district collector further informed.
The newly formed Vav-Tharad district will include the talukas of Vav, Tharad, Dhanera, Lakhni, Deodar, Bhabhar, Kankrej, and Suigam. The municipalities of Bhabhar, Tharad, Thara, and Dhanera will be part of this district. On the other hand, the talukas of Deesa, Dantiwada, Palanpur, Vadgam, Amirgadh, and Danta will remain in Banaskantha district, with the municipalities of Palanpur and Deesa also falling under Banaskantha.
Tharad will serve as the district headquarters for the new Vav-Tharad district, while Palanpur will remain the district headquarters for Banaskantha in its revised structure. DeshGujarat
