Ahmedabad: The city will be getting 12 new bridges as per the Draft Budget for the financial year 2025-26 presented today by the Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

According to the Draft Budget, the city currently has 91 bridges, and work is ongoing for another 12 bridges. The draft budget proposes 12 more bridges (including the reconstruction of 2). Among the new proposed bridges, one is a ₹220 crore bridge crossing SG Highway at Sanand Chokdi and also the Ahmedabad-Botad railway line on LC 28.

Widening of Chimanbhai Bridge at a cost of ₹150 crore is also proposed in the draft budget, along with the reconstruction of the approach portion of Asarwa Railway Bridge at a cost of ₹80 crore.

Flyover/Underpass projects worth ₹500 crore include the proposed flyover at SG Highway crossing ISKCON junction for ₹250 crore, a flyover at Silver Star Char Rasta for ₹80 crore, an underpass at SP Ring Road-Rajpath Rangoli junction for ₹35 crore, Panchvati junction flyover for ₹90 crore, and Pirana-Piplaj channel minor bridge in TP 160 for ₹45 crore.

A feasibility study is proposed for a second-level bridge parallel to BRTS at IIM junction, an elevated corridor from Shyamal to SG Highway via ISKCON, Vaki Saheb Bridge to Ghuma, an elevated corridor from Nehrunagar to SG Highway, Paldu junction, ring road junction, a second-level flyover bridge on the Naroda-Dahegam Ring Road junction, an Odhav-Kathwada Ring Road junction second-level flyover, and an underpass at Old Sheryas Crossing, Ayojan Nagar to Popatlal Dani Park.

Shahibaug underpass is proposed to be reconstructed, and an additional lane will be created for the traffic from Subhash Bridge side at a cost of ₹30 crore.

Railway overbridges are planned at 3 railway crossings in the city at a cost of ₹175 crore. These locations are: Ahmedabad-Viramgam Railway Line – Janatanagar (Level Crossing No. 7), Ahmedabad-Geratpur Railway Line – Punit Nagar (Level Crossing No. 307), Ahmedabad-Himmatnagar Railway Line – Sardarnagar (Level Crossing No. 06). Furthermore, a Railway Underbridge is proposed at Ahmedabad-Palanpur Railway Line – Tragad Village (Level Crossing No. 240) for ₹25 crore. DeshGujarat
