40 Families of Flat Scheme in Vadodara Return Home After Four Days Following Building Collapse Scare

Vadodara: Forty families of the Satva Prime complex, who were displaced from their homes due to a building collapse scare, returned to their residences on the fourth day. The residents were forced to evacuate after the compound wall of their building collapsed due to excavation work at a neighboring construction site.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when excavation work for a double basement at the Vasanttara Skies construction site, a 14-story proposed building, led to the collapse of the compound wall of the adjacent Satva Prime apartment complex. The excavation, conducted by workers of builder Virendrasinh Sukhdevsinh Jadeja, caused soil to erode, exposing the columns of the Satva Prime building. Additionally, the walls of the neighboring Saffron Bliss B and C towers were also damaged.

For three days, 40 families from two towers of Satva Prime were forced to seek shelter with relatives and friends. While the concrete and earth-moving work was ongoing to support the foundation that was exposed after the collapse of the wall during these days.

On the fourth day, at 6:30 PM, a structural stability report was released by Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC). Two employees from the building permit department delivered the report to the site, declaring the building safe for occupancy. Consequently, 125 residents from the 40 families were allowed to return to their homes. Within two hours, the gas line was also restored. The structural stability report was prepared by Dhruv Patel, the structural engineer of the builder, who was also present at the site during the incident. DeshGujarat
