Gujarat police compile list of 7,612 ‘anti-social elements’ in 100 hours as per DGP order

Gandhinagar: Following an order by the state police chief to compile a list of anti-social elements and notorious criminals within 100 hours, over 800 police stations statewide have identified 7,612 individuals, according to a statement from Police Bhavan on Wednesday.
The list includes 3,264 bootleggers, 516 individuals booked for gambling, 2,149 involved in bodily crimes such as assault, 958 in property-related offenses like encroachment, 179 linked to illegal mining, and 545 engaged in other anti-social activities. Authorities have placed these individuals under surveillance and launched investigations into their illegal constructions, unauthorized electricity connections, and financial dealings.
So far, 59 individuals have been booked under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act, including 25 in Ahmedabad, 6 in Gandhinagar, 2 in Vadodara, 7 in rural Surat, and 12 in Morbi. Additionally, 10 externment orders have been issued, and 724 individuals have been placed under preventive detention. Police have also demolished 12 illegal structures and disconnected 81 unauthorized electricity connections.
Further actions are expected, with plans to book 100 more individuals under PASA, extern 120, detain 265, demolish 200 illegal constructions, and sever 225 unauthorized power connections.
Meanwhile, as per the state monitoring cell, immediate action is planned against 15 individuals, with their illegal properties set for demolition within 72 hours and their power connections to be severed. DeshGujarat
