Ahmedabad: A segmental launching gantry used for viaduct construction at the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project site in Vatva accidentally slipped from its position late Sunday night, affecting the adjoining railway line. The incident occurred around 11 PM while the gantry was retracting after launching a concrete girder.

Senior officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), along with police and fire service personnel, are on-site monitoring the situation. No casualties have been reported, and the erected structure remains undamaged. However, due to the accident, down-line train movement has been impacted.

According to the Divisional Railway Manager, Ahmedabad, 25 trains were canceled, 15 were partially canceled, five were rescheduled, and six were diverted.

Single-line movement to clear down trains using the UP line started at 00:56 hrs. There is no impact on UP train movement. To assist passengers, railway authorities have launched a helpline number.
