40 students cut their hands as fellow student, influenced by video game, offered ₹10 for blade wound

Bagasara: In yet another shocking incident influenced by video games, around 40 students of a primary school in Mota Munjiyasar village of Bagasara taluka reportedly cut themselves using blades. When parents noticed the injuries and did not receive a satisfactory response from their children or the school, they approached the Gram Panchayat, which has now filed a police complaint in the matter.

As per details, the incident occurred at Mota Munjiyasar Primary School in Bagasara, where a Class 7 student, reportedly influenced by a video game, challenged his classmates, saying, “If you cut your hand with a blade, I will give you ₹10; if you don’t, you must give me ₹5.” Encouraged by this, several students removed the blade from their pencil sharpeners and inflicted cuts on their hands. Soon, Class 5 and 6 students also joined in, leading to a total of 40 students injuring themselves.

When the school administration became aware of the incident, they chose not to inform the parents. Instead, they instructed students to remain silent. As a result, when parents noticed the injuries and inquired, the children simply said they had been hurt while playing. However, one parent eventually learned the truth and confronted the school. Following this, the school principal held a meeting with parents, where students were made to write an apology, promising not to repeat such actions.

Meanwhile, village Sarpanch Jaysukh Khetani, along with other local representatives, visited the Bagasara police station on Tuesday, demanding a thorough investigation.

The injured students belong to Classes 5, 6, and 7. Instead of taking responsibility, the school administration allegedly tried to shift the burden onto parents by making them sign a statement assuming full responsibility for their children. This incident has raised concerns among parents about the growing dangers of mobile gaming among young students.

PSI Salunke of Bagasara stated that a complaint was received late in the evening from parents and the village sarpanch. “We will investigate the matter when the school reopens tomorrow,” he said. DeshGujarat
