SpiceJet launches Mumbai-Porbandar flight; services resume after 3 years hiatus

Porbandar: Flight services between Mumbai and Porbandar resumed today after a three-year hiatus. The SpiceJet flight from Mumbai took off at 11:10 AM and landed at Porbandar Airport at 12:50 PM. The service will now operate twice a week, connecting the two cities.

Since the 1980s, Porbandar had air connectivity with Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi. However, flights were discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic. After multiple appeals from business communities and local organizations, the service has been restored with the efforts of Porbandar MP Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

The inaugural flight was launched today, but regular operations will commence from April 1, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight will depart from Mumbai at 11:30 AM, arriving in Porbandar at 1:00 PM. The return flight will leave Porbandar at 1:25 PM and reach Mumbai at 2:55 PM.

To mark the occasion, MLA Arjun Modhwadia, former Cabinet Minister Babu Bokhiria, and former BJP district president Vikrambhai Odedra were present at the airport. They welcomed passengers with rose flowers, celebrating the revival of air connectivity.
