NHAI increases toll tax rates across national highways

Ahmedabad: The National Highway Authority of India has increased toll tax rates on national highways by Rs 5 to Rs 40, which will raise travel expenses for motorists. The price hike has come into effect at various toll plazas starting today, April 1st.
Motorists traveling on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway will now face higher toll charges. According to the new rates, vehicles like cars and jeeps will have to pay Rs 140 instead of the previous Rs 135. Similarly, the toll for larger vehicles such as buses and trucks will rise from Rs 465 to Rs 480.
The toll on National Highway-48 between Ahmedabad and Vadodara has also increased. Now, to travel by car from Vadodara to Anand, motorists will have to pay Rs 55 instead of Rs 50, while the toll from Vadodara to Nadiad will go up from Rs 70 to Rs 75.
Other toll hikes include an increase in the toll for cars and jeeps at the Raghwanj toll plaza to Rs 110, and from Vasad to Vadodara, the new toll will be Rs 160. The toll at the Bharthana toll plaza for cars and jeeps will also rise from Rs 155 to Rs 160.
Notably, this toll hike comes only four and a half months after a previous increase at Boriach, Navsari. Light motor vehicles will now pay Rs 120 instead of Rs 115, commercial vehicles will pay Rs 195 instead of Rs 190, and buses and trucks will face a toll of Rs 410 instead of Rs 395.
Toll rates have also been hiked for the toll plazas on State Highway 5 on the Halol-Shamlaji Road. However, the state government has continued to exempt cars, jeeps, two-wheelers, and ST buses operated by Gujarat Rajya Marg Vahan Prabhat Ltd. from the toll fee.
Toll fees are collected at the toll plazas for the 44 km of Halol-Godhra, 42 km of Godhra-Lunawada, 57 km of Lunawada-Modasa, and 29 km of Modasa-Shamlaji. It is worth noting that in 2012, the Halol-Shamlaji road was completed by L&T Infrastructure Development Pvt. Ltd.
From tomorrow, L.C.V. – Mini buses will be charged Rs. 115 instead of Rs. 110 between Halol-Godhra, Rs. 110 instead of Rs. 105 between Godhra-Lunawada, Rs. 145 instead of Rs. 140 between Lunawada-Modasa, and Rs. 445 instead of Rs. 425 between Halol-Shamlaji. DeshGujarat
