Bharuch-Dahej access-controlled expressway to complete by Dec 2026
April 02, 2025
Bharuch: The Dahej PCPIR (Petroleum, Chemicals, and Petrochemicals Investment Region), built in Gujarat, will get more robust and strengthened road connectivity in the coming days. This development will enhance ease of transportation for investors and improve vehicular traffic flow.
During his recent visit to Bharuch, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a comprehensive review of the modern road infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation Limited on the Bharuch-Dahej road.
A 3.40 km long, six-lane elevated corridor from Bholav Junction to Shravan Junction on the Bharuch-Dahej road is under construction at an estimated cost of ₹440 crore. Additionally, a 38.50 km long access-controlled expressway from Manubar Junction to Dahej is being built at an estimated cost of ₹972 crore.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the progress of these projects, covering a total length of 41.90 km, at an estimated cost of ₹1,412 crore.
It is important to note that Dahej PCPIR is one of the four PCPIRs in the country. The Dahej-Bharuch road serves as a crucial route for local commuters, major investors, and surrounding villagers traveling to industries spread across 453 sq. km. It plays a vital role in facilitating traffic movement in the region.
Furthermore, this road connects the Dahej PCPIR industrial area and Dahej Port with the Ahmedabad-Mumbai main road, carrying a significant volume of vehicular traffic.
Traffic congestion at four junctions along the Bharuch-Dahej road causes delays for vehicle drivers, industrialists, investors, and workers commuting between Bharuch and Dahej.
The state government has expedited the development of a six-lane elevated corridor from Bholav Junction to Shravan Junction on the Bharuch-Dahej road to provide a permanent solution to this issue.
Additionally, the construction of the 38.50 km access-controlled expressway from Manubar Junction to Dahej on the Bharuch-Dahej road is progressing steadily.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister M. K. Das, Advisor S. S. Rathore, and Roads and Buildings Secretary Prabhat Patelia, held a meeting with senior engineers of the Roads and Buildings Department to review these projects.
Providing an update on the projects, Secretary Patelia informed the Chief Minister that the elevated corridor under construction is 3.4 km long and 29 meters wide. Additionally, service roads with a minimum width of 7 meters are being developed on both sides.
During a presentation to the Chief Minister, it was stated that the elevated corridor would help divert a substantial portion of the 60,000 vehicles traveling daily from Bharuch to Dahej, reducing congestion in urban areas. This will allow vehicles to reach their destinations faster while also saving fuel.
Currently, 50% of the corridor’s construction has been completed, and the remaining work is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2026.
The entire access-controlled expressway from Manubar Junction on the Bharuch-Dahej road to Dahej is planned for completion by December 2026. These details were also presented to the Chief Minister.
This 38.50 km long, four-lane access-controlled expressway will feature seven flyovers and 15 underpasses. It will significantly improve transportation for around 15 villages in Bharuch and Dahej, benefiting approximately 16 lakh people in the Dahej industrial area.
During the review, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the need to maintain high-quality standards and adhere to project timelines. Officials from the Bharuch District Administration were also present at the review meeting and provided supplementary information. DeshGujarat
