Mahesh Gadhvi resigns as Surat Diamond Bourse CEO

Surat: Mahesh Gadhvi, who played a key role in establishing the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) as its CEO, has resigned from his position.

Surat Diamond Bourse Committee Vice President and Spokesperson Laljibhai Patel told the media that Gadhvi had previously been involved in the Kiran Hospital project and was later appointed CEO of SDB due to his strong performance. “Being an expert in the construction industry, he had been requesting to return to his preferred profession for the past year. He voluntarily resigned and insisted that we accept his resignation, which we did,” Patel stated.

Meanwhile, messages circulating on social media claimed that Gadhvi resigned due to financial concerns at SDB. These messages alleged that bank branches at the bourse, Amul Dairy’s ice cream parlors, Sumul Dairy’s Master Chef restaurant, and the food court had closed, and that maintenance costs had increased.

However, issuing an official statement on behalf of the committee, Patel clarified, “Maheshbhai Gadhvi was associated with SDB for project management. The construction work was completed two years ago. However, due to the insistence of the committee, he remained with SDB for two more years. Currently, he has received a good opportunity elsewhere, so he is leaving. Maheshbhai Gadhvi played an important role at SDB for a long time, and we appreciate his leadership and dedication. To dispel rumors and misconceptions, we would like to clarify that his resignation is not due to any financial or management-related issues.”

In another development, on February 21, 152 rental trading cabins for small diamond traders were inaugurated at the Surat Diamond Bourse by Mayor Dakshesh Mavani. According to spokesperson Laljibhai Patel, traders who secured these cabins received a 33% waiver on one year’s rent and will only need to pay for eight months in the first year. The 152 cabins come equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support small-scale traders. DeshGujarat
