Gujarat govt increases grant allocated to MLAs per constituency by Rs 1 crore

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today informed that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken a decision to increase the grant allocated to the MLAs for development works in their constituencies by Rs. 1 crore. The existing annual grant of Rs 1.50 crore allocated to MLAs for community development works of local importance will now be increased by Rs 1 crore and such annual grant will now be given at Rs 2.50 crore.

The MLAs will accelerate the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign by undertaking works for rainwater collection and storage in their areas. Prime Minister  Modi has called upon the countrymen to take up the “Catch the Rain” campaign this year for the collection and storage of water drop by drop. Taking this call, the state MLAs will organize more and more rainwater harvesting works in their constituencies. Accordingly, it has been ensured that Rs 50 lakh out of the development works grant allocated to the MLAs will be used for water harvesting and water storage works in their constituencies under this “Catch the Rain – Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0”.
