May 03, 2025
Keshod: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender for the development of Keshod Airport in Gujarat, inviting bids for the comprehensive design and construction of a new domestic terminal building and related infrastructure.
The estimated project cost stands at ₹142.17 crore (excluding GST), with ₹123.33 crore allocated for capital construction and ₹18.83 crore for operations and maintenance.
The scope of work includes detailed designing, engineering, procurement, and construction of the terminal building, parking facilities, ATC tower-cum-technical block, fire station, electrical sub-station, approach roads, and various allied and electro-mechanical works. The tender also includes the installation of advanced airport systems, IT systems, and security infrastructure, along with a five-year operation and maintenance contract and a two-year defect liability period.
The construction period is set at 15 months, including 60 days accounted for monsoon delays. The operation and maintenance period will span seven years.
Bid submissions for the tender will open on May 23 and close on June 18, 2025.
It is noteworthy that earlier this year, AAI had issued another tender worth ₹161.49 crore for the extension and strengthening of Runway 05/23, along with the construction of a link taxiway, a parallel taxi track (PTT), an apron, an isolation bay, a perimeter road, and an operational boundary wall.
The expansion and modernization of Keshod Airport is expected to improve air connectivity in the Sorath region, home to the world’s only Asiatic Gir lion sanctuary, the Somnath temple—one of the twelve Jyotirlingas—and the historic city of Junagadh, which features Gujarat’s tallest peak, Mount Girnar.
