GMRC to build shops for families affected in Ahmedabad Metro Phase 1; tender floated

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has invited e-tenders from contractors for the construction of shops for project-affected families at GMRC plots located at Nava Vadaj and Jivraj stations, which are part of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I.

The estimated cost of the work is ₹86.99 lakh (inclusive of taxes), and the project is to be completed within six months. The last date for submission of queries is May 16, while the final date for bid submission is May 30 by 3:00 pm. Technical bids will be opened the same day at 3:30 pm, and the date for opening financial bids will be announced later.

The Union Cabinet had approved ₹10,773 crore for Phase-I of the Ahmedabad Metro project in October 2014. Construction of the project began in March 2016. Trial runs started in February 2019, with the first section opened to the public in March 2019. Most of Phase-I was inaugurated in September 2022 and opened in October 2022. Final sections, including Thaltej Gam and Kankaria East stations, were completed by December 2024, with the total cost reaching ₹12,900 crore. DeshGujarat
