Removed 12,000 units during Chandola drive in 11 lakh square meters area: AMC

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in a note stated that it has freed 11 lakh square meter area from encroachment thanks to Chandola lake area demolition drive.
AMC stated there were more than 12 thousand units, including 700 commercial type units, in an area of 11 lakh square meters. AMC has decided to develop Chandola Lake. AMC said that water stored in 11 square meter area will uplift the ground water levels in Ahmedabad city and contribute to environmental betterment.
14 JCB machines, 100 trucks and Hitachi machines were used that took 357 trips and removed 2774 mt debris on 23 May. The task of deepening the lake to make it ready for more water storage is ongoing using 5 JCB, 22 excavators and 72 trucks. 1507.37 square meter deep was created inside the lake and 904.422 cubic meters soil was excavated, that shall be reused for dense forestation project at Gyaspur by AMC. The debris and construction waste shall be utilized at AMC’s C & D waste processing plant to make various products on waste to best mode. DeshGujarat
