Kodinar: A lioness attacked an elderly woman in Bodva village of Kodinar taluka. However, the woman’s daughter showed courage and saved her mother from the lioness. The injured victim has been hospitalized and is undergoing treatment.
The incident took place near a primary school in Bodva village, where Vanitaben Mansing Bhanbaniya resides with her family. Vanitaben’s 65-year-old mother, Malaiben Boghabhai Makwana from Chikhli village, had come to attend a family wedding. After the celebrations, Malaiben was sleeping outside in the courtyard along with family members.
Around 1:00 a.m., a lioness entered the courtyard and attacked Malaiben. Caught off guard, she screamed in terror. Her daughter Vanitaben and other family members immediately woke up and rushed to her aid. Showing immense courage, Vanitaben pulled her mother from the lioness’s jaws amidst screams for help. The commotion forced the lioness to flee.
Soon after, neighbors gathered and rushed the injured woman to a hospital—first in Kodinar and then to Ambuja Multispeciality Hospital—for treatment. She sustained serious injuries to her lower back and both legs.
Following this attack, locals are demanding that the forest department capture and cage the lioness. Forest department officials from Jamvala reached the site and have initiated efforts to capture and cage the lioness. DeshGujarat
