BJP, Congress declare candidates for Kadi and Visavadar by-polls
June 01, 2025
Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today declared its candidates for both Kadi and Visavadar assembly seats that are going to witness by-polls later this month.
The party declared Rajendra Chavda as its candidate for Kadi seat which is reserved for scheduled caste candidates only. The party also declared Kiritbhai Patel as its candidate for Visavadar assembly seat, where generally all parties field Leuva Patidar community candidates. Congress has fielded Nitin Ranpariya for Visavdar by-poll. The other opposition party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Gopal Italiya for Visavadar by-election.
The last date of filing nominations for both seats is 2nd June. Polling will take place on 19th June, while counting will take place on 23rd June.
The main opposition Congress party meanwhile declared Rameshbhai Chavda as its candidate for Kadi seat. 69 years old Ramesh Chavda won Kadi bypoll in 2012 by 1217 votes. He however lost 2017 election against BJP. In 2022, Congress had fielded someone else instead of Ramesh Chavda who too lost against BJP.
The seats of Kadi and Visavadar are vacant due to passing away of then Kadi BJP MLA and resignation of then Visavadar AAP MLA who later joined BJP. DeshGujarat
