Residents Demand Strict Enforcement of Disturbed Areas Act in Rajkot Society
June 09, 2025
Rajkot: Local residents of New Kedarnath Society today reached the District Collector’s office, alleging failure in the implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act in their locality.
Around 150 residents, including women from the society located in Ward No. 16, met with the District Collector’s office demanding proper enforcement of the Disturbed Areas Act.
Speaking to the media, one local resident said, “In the past, as per a government order, the Disturbed Areas Act (Ashant Dhara) was imposed in our area. However, its implementation has not been proper for some time now. We even approached Bhaktinagar Police Station, where the inspector informed us that action was taken as per legal provisions and advised us to approach the Collector for stricter action.”
Another resident added, “In 2–3 houses, people of a different religion have started living, and as per our knowledge, 5–6 property deals have also taken place. We only request that people from other religions be ordered to vacate the houses.”
One of the residents also demanded action against the broker and notary involved in the paperwork for such transactions, despite being aware that the area falls under the Disturbed Areas Act. DeshGujarat
