Passport Server Crash Causes Suspension of Services at Ahmedabad PSK Centers
June 10, 2025
Ahmedabad: A major technical glitch in the passport application system brought operations to a halt at two Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) in Ahmedabad on Monday, leaving hundreds of applicants frustrated. The disruption, stemming from an error in the recently launched Version 2.0 of the passport office system, led to heated arguments and police intervention at the Vijay Char Rasta and Mithakali centers.
Around 300 applicants, who had secured appointments between 9 AM and 12 PM, were unable to submit their applications due to the server crash. Many had traveled from distant locations, only to be met with stalled services. While the server eventually came back online after 12 PM, allowing some document submissions to proceed, the initial hours were marked by severe disruption.
According to reports, the new system is expected to experience technical glitches for up to three months, raising concerns among future applicants. Applicants who had made appointments under the normal application category and were unable to submit their documents on Monday will now have to reschedule their appointments for a date after fifteen days. However, those who had immediate appointments will have their applications rescheduled for the following day.
Adding to the confusion, applicants noted that while online appointments for the Vijay Char Rasta PSK are currently being displayed, appointments for the Mithakali center are unavailable. This is attributed to the Mithakali Passport Seva Kendra being in the process of closing and relocating to a new facility in Bapunagar.
