Sleeper Coaches on Trains to Have AC-like Facility; Railways to Install Liquid Soap Dispensers
June 11, 2025
New Delhi: Passengers traveling in sleeper coaches of long-distance mail and express trains equipped with Onboard Housekeeping Services (OBHS) will now receive facilities similar to those available in AC coaches. In a major hygiene upgrade for such trains, liquid soap dispensers will be installed in all sleeper class coaches.
Until now, liquid soap dispensers were a facility exclusive to AC coaches. However, Indian Railways has decided to equip sleeper coaches in OBHS-enabled trains with these dispensers near washbasins and toilets, ensuring better hand hygiene during the journey.
OBHS trains have dedicated staff responsible for cleaning coaches and toilets during travel. As part of their duties, these staff members will now also ensure that the soap dispensers in sleeper coaches are filled before departure and replenished as needed during the journey.
The Railway Board has issued official instructions to all zonal railways mandating the installation of liquid soap dispensers in sleeper coaches of OBHS-enabled trains. This initiative aims to significantly raise hygiene standards for millions of passengers. DeshGujarat
