Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Over 300 Feared Dead; Residents, Students Among Victims

Ahmedabad: Over 300 individuals, including passengers and local residents, are feared dead in the tragic crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad that occurred this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports from Civil Hospital and medical college sources, a total of 317 people have likely died in the devastating accident. Among all 242 people on board the London-bound Air India flight, only one passenger seated at 11D is presumed to have survived. Recovery of the bodies remains incomplete due to the severity of the crash and resulting fire.
In addition, 75 bodies have been recovered from Atulyam Flats, a residential complex near Meghani Nagar that also includes staff quarters of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. The plane crashed into this densely populated area, damaging three residential buildings. However, no official death toll has been announced by authorities yet.
Sources from the medical college revealed that approximately 200 residents were present in the 94 flats of the affected complex at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, nearly 40 injured individuals, including MBBS students who were residing in the area, are undergoing treatment in wards C7, C8, B2, and B7 at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Medical teams are working round the clock to provide critical care.
Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, and identification of the deceased is being conducted through DNA sampling facilitated by the hospital. DeshGujarat
