June 19, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a major crackdown under its ongoing special drive, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked Jigneshbhai Surendrabhai Shah, Class-2 Estate/TDO Inspector of the East Zone, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth over ₹3 crore.
Acting on a complaint against Shah regarding disproportionate assets, the ACB launched an inquiry. During the investigation, which covered the period from April 1, 2012, to March 31, 2022, it came to light that accused Shah had allegedly acquired assets worth ₹3,07,49,991, which is 102.47% more than his known legitimate income. These assets were found in his name as well as in the names of his dependents. After these preliminary findings, a case was registered against the Class-2 officer at the Ahmedabad City ACB Post today. Shah has been detained, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The ACB stated that the campaign, launched under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment Act, 2018), aims to identify government officials who have acquired wealth beyond their known sources of income through illegal means or abuse of power, often by investing in properties in the names of relatives or associates.
