Vadodara to get new indoor-outdoor sports complex; VUDA to build Rs 73.52 crore facility
June 25, 2025
Vadodara: In a major infrastructure push for sports in the area under the Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA), an indoor-outdoor sports complex is set to be constructed at Ankodia village, near the city, at an estimated cost of Rs 73.52 crore.
Spanning 1.66 lakh square feet (approximately 15,500 square meters), the complex will be developed on TP Scheme No. 2, Plot Nos. 55, 57, 60, and 61 in the Khanpur-Ankodia area. The land is owned by VUDA, which has now floated tenders for the project.
While the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) had earlier developed an indoor sports complex at Sama and an outdoor facility at Manjalpur, this will be the first integrated indoor-outdoor sports complex in the region, combining both formats in a single modern facility.
The complex will be designed in line with Olympic standards and will feature multiple indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including table tennis, rifle shooting, badminton, carrom, pool, and more. The design phase will commence once the tender is finalized.
It will also include synthetic and red soil tennis courts. The indoor section will house 4 chess boards, 4 carrom boards, and 2 pool tables. A large multipurpose hall is planned to host various events and activities, including yoga and meditation sessions. The facility will provide adequate basement parking, changing rooms, and other user-focused amenities.
Once the tendering process is complete, the contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder, who will be given 18 months (excluding the monsoon period) to complete the construction. The selected contractor will also be granted a 10-year operation and maintenance contract to ensure the long-term upkeep of the facility. DeshGujarat
