Section 144 imposed after arrest of AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava

Bharuch: A high-level meeting on the ADVT (Administrative Development and Village Transformation) executive planning turned chaotic on Saturday in Dediapada, Narmada district, as a heated confrontation broke out, followed by attacks on Taluka Panchayat president Sanjay Vasava.

The meeting, held in the chamber of the Provincial Officer D.R. Sangada, was attended by Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava, Dediapada Taluka Panchayat President Sanjay Vasava, Sagbara Taluka Panchayat President Champaben Vasava, and other administrative officials including Taluka Development Officers of Dediapada and Sagbara.

The dispute allegedly erupted over the inclusion of Sagbara Taluka Panchayat President Champaben Vasava as a member of the ADVT. According to President Sanjay Vasava, MLA Chaitar Vasava objected in a rude and aggressive manner. When Sanjay Vasava defended Champaben Vasava, citing her elected position and status as a woman leader, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaitar Vasava reportedly reacted with anger, throwing first a mobile phone targetting Vasava and later by throwing a glass at Sanjay Vasava. A chaos ensued, requiring the intervention of others present.

Although the meeting resumed briefly, tensions escalated once again, resulting in more aggressive behavior from the MLA, including further damage to office property. “Office chairs were damaged,” claimed President Sanjay Vasava, who has since lodged a formal complaint against the MLA at the Dediapada police station.

In response, MLA Chaitar Vasava also filed a counter-complaint against Sanjay Vasava. The MLA was held at the Dediapada police station for nearly three hours before being taken to Rajpipla under heavy police security.

Adding to the controversy, Sagbara Panchayat President Champaben Vasava condemned the MLA’s behavior during the meeting, and Sanjay Vasava’s mother also publicly expressed concern, warning that “MLA Chaitar Vasava will be fully responsible for whatever happens to my son.”

The political drama spilled over into the public sphere as Aam Aadmi Party workers gathered outside the Dediapada police station in protest. A verbal altercation occurred between the party workers and police, particularly after the MLA’s two wives were denied permission to meet him inside the station by women police officers.

An FIR has been registered against both MLA Chaitar Vasava and President Sanjay Vasava at the Dediapada police station. As of now, no official details have been released by the police regarding further action.

Police have imposed section 144 to maintain law and order situation. Chaitar has been booked and even imprisoned int the past occasions over his alleged violent behavior. Supporter and advocate of Christian Missionaries run religious conversion activities in tribal area, Chaitar also runs an agitation to have a separate State carved from portions of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
