Gujarat govt suspends four engineers over Mujpur – Gambhira bridge collapse

Vadodara: Following the collapse of the Mujpur-Gambhira bridge connecting Vadodara and Anand on Wednesday, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel ordered a high-level and detailed investigation into the incident. Today, on the basis of the primary probe, 4 engineers have been suspended.
A team of technical experts was assigned to prepare a comprehensive report covering the bridge’s repair history, inspections, and quality checks over the years. After an on-site inspection and preliminary review of the accident’s causes, the expert team identified key lapses. Based on these findings, today the Chief Minister has ordered the immediate suspension of four officials from the Roads and Buildings Department: Executive Engineer N.M. Nayakawala, Deputy Executive Engineers U.C. Patel and R.T. Patel, and Assistant Engineer J.V. Shah.
In the interest of public safety, the Chief Minister has also directed urgent and thorough inspections of all other bridges across the state. DeshGujarat
