Carats 2025 boosts Surat’s diamond market with ₹100 crore in deals
July 14, 2025
Surat: Despite a global slump in the diamond market, the Carats 2025 exhibition held in Surat saw strong business activity, generating over ₹100 crore in trade, up from ₹75 crore last year.
Organized by the Surat Diamond Association at Avadh Utopia, the three-day exhibition showcased a range of offerings, including loose polished diamonds, natural and lab-grown diamonds (LGDs), diamond-studded jewellery, and industry-specific tools.
A total of 73 exhibitors, primarily from Surat and Mumbai, took part in the event. The main attraction was a pair of lab-grown diamonds weighing 38 carats each. Buyers came from across India, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Kerala, Chennai, and Cochin, along with international participants from Dubai, Ukraine, Russia, and the USA.
The event was inaugurated by Surat Mayor Daxesh Mawani in the presence of BJP MP Govind Dholakia. The mayor suggested organizing an 8–10-day shopping festival in Surat, inspired by Dubai’s shopping events.
Surat Diamond Association president Jagdish Khunt confirmed that feedback from exhibitors was highly positive, with many urging the association to host the event twice a year. DeshGujarat
