Circle Officer nabbed for taking ₹30,000 bribe in ACB Gujarat Decoy Trap

Himatnagar: Acting on a tip-off, the Mehsana unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed a Deputy Mamlatdar in a decoy trap for accepting a bribe amounting to ₹30,000.
According to details, the ACB Mehsana had received information that officials and employees at the Himatnagar Mamlatdar office were allegedly demanding bribes ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹50,000 from applicants seeking permission for mineral excavation from land, in return for giving favorable opinions and ensuring no harassment.
Following this information, the ACB organized a decoy operation with the cooperation of a citizen. During the trap, the accused demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹30,000 from the decoy and was caught red-handed at his office. The accused, Jitendrakumar Rameshchandra Patel (39), posted as Circle Officer–Gambhoi, Class-3, at the Mamlatdar office in Himatnagar, Sabarkantha district, was arrested during the operation.
