Gujarat Govt Sanctions ₹ 4179 Crore for Urban Development Projects

Gandhinagar – Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, has approved ₹4179 crore for development projects in seven Municipal Corporations and twelve Municipalities across the state. This allocation supports the “Urban Development Year-2025” initiative, which aims to improve urban areas and empower citizens.
Chief Minister Patel approved these projects under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme, to expand public welfare works in cities during this urban development year.
Funds go to metropolitan cities, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and the new municipal corporations of Nadiad, Porbandar, and Morbi. Municipalities receiving funds include Visnagar, Borsad, Viramgam, Patan, Amod, Una, Halvad, Khambhaliya, Savarkundla, Dhanera, Veraval and Patan.
Infrastructure and Mobility Projects
A large portion of the funds, ₹3768 crore, is for infrastructure development. This includes:
- Vadodara Municipal Corporation: ₹455 crore for 349 works related to urban mobility and physical infrastructure.
- Rajkot Municipal Corporation: ₹367 crore for 302 works.
- Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation: ₹2940 crore for 252 works.
- Porbandar Municipal Corporation (newly formed): ₹6.20 crore for 11 works.
Road and Iconic Projects
₹219 crore is approved for urban roads and ‘Gaurav Path’ under the Iconic Road project in cities and towns. Allocations include:
- Morbi Municipal Corporation: ₹15 crore.
- Nadiad Municipal Corporation: ₹13 crore.
- Rajkot Municipal Corporation: ₹136 crore.
- Una Municipality: ₹17.76 crore.
- Halvad Municipality: ₹19.28 crore.
- Khambhaliya Municipality: ₹5 crore.
Water Supply and Drainage
₹93 crore is sanctioned for water supply lines and storm water drainage systems. Key recipients are:
- Morbi Municipal Corporation: ₹61.64 crore.
- Savarkundla Municipality: ₹19.28 crore.
- Dhanera Municipality: ₹11.31 crore.
Town-Specific and Outgrowth Development
For town projects, ₹14 crore is allocated to Veraval-Patan Municipality and Amod Municipality. Visnagar, Borsad, and Viramgam municipalities will receive ₹2.72 crore under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme.
Under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme, ₹80 crore is allocated to Rajkot and ₹2.72 crore to Patan for outgrowth area development.
