August 20, 2025
Gandhinagar: Jamnagar has welcomed a new Superintendent of Police (SP), Dr. Ravi Mohan Saini — a name that many still remember from television. Two decades ago, Saini shot to fame as the young quiz prodigy who won ₹1 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati Junior at just 14 years of age. Today, after pursuing a career in medicine and later cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination, he has taken charge as the IPS officer leading Jamnagar’s police force.
Indian Navy father’s son Saini’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Hailing from Rajasthan, he first entered the public eye in 2001, when he participated in the popular quiz show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. His calm demeanor and wide knowledge helped him clinch the jackpot by clearing all correct answers, making him a household name overnight.
After completing his schooling at Visakhapatnam , Saini went on to study medicine and became a doctor. However, his aspirations did not stop there. He appeared for the UPSC examination, eventually earning his place in the prestigious Indian Police Service (IPS).
Before his current posting, Saini served in various capacities, gaining administrative and field experience. He has now been transferred to Jamnagar, Gujarat, where he will take charge as the district’s SP.
Residents and officials alike are looking forward to his tenure, given his reputation. His unusual career trajectory — from a child prodigy who won millions on national television, to a doctor, and now a top police officer — continues to inspire many. DeshGujarat
