Mahisagar: In yet another disturbing incident following the recent murder of a Class 10 student in Ahmedabad, a Class 8 boy was stabbed by his classmate at a primary school in Balasinor town of Mahisagar district on Thursday.
Police said the victim sustained injuries on his waist, abdomen, and shoulder but is out of danger. A preliminary probe revealed that the attack was triggered by a quarrel over a trivial matter. The boy was stabbed three times.
Mahisagar Superintendent of Police Jaydeepsinh Jadeja said the scuffle broke out during recess when the two students argued over who would leave the classroom first. “One of them punched the other during recess. After school ended, the accused brought a knife and attacked him,” Jadeja said.
The injured student was taken to hospital, where doctors informed the police. Later, a complaint was lodged at Balasinor Town Police Station.
According to the FIR, the accused often teased the complainant’s child, who refused to engage. This angered the accused, who began abusing him. When the complainant’s son resisted, the accused first hit him on the ribs. As the victim tried to retaliate, the accused suddenly pulled out a knife from his bag and stabbed him on the left shoulder, armpit, abdomen, and pelvic area before fleeing.
Police have filed a case and initiated legal proceedings. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the accused had brought the knife to school or procured it later. DeshGujarat
